Dear Douglas County School District Staff and Community,

We wanted to provide you with an update on the Douglas County School District (DCSD) Superintendent Search process, including next steps and ways for the community to get involved and provide feedback. We encourage you to read through the following information carefully so you can take advantage of the many ways to make your voice heard during this important process.

Board of Education Meetings (Candidate Screening and Interviews)

  • Last night (Tuesday, March 1) the DCSD Board of Education met in a special meeting and voted unanimously to enter into Executive Session. During that closed session, the Board screened applications received for the Superintendent position.

  • Today (Wednesday, March 2) at 12:00 p.m. the DCSD Board of Education came together for another special meeting. After calling the meeting to order, the Board voted unanimously to enter into Executive Session to conduct screening interviews of candidates for the Superintendent position. At approximately 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, the Board is expected to reconvene in a public meeting to discuss the candidates interviewed and announce finalists for the Superintendent position.

    • The public portion of this meeting will be livestreamed and available to view on the DCSD YouTube channel and on Comcast channel 54.

    • The finalists will be listed on the Superintendent Search page (this web page) of the DCSD website by Thursday, March 3.

  • Tomorrow (Thursday, March 3) at 12:00 p.m. the DCSD Board of Education will hold a special meeting. During that meeting, finalists for the Superintendent position will be interviewed in a public session. That meeting will be livestreamed and available to view on the DCSD YouTube channel and on Comcast channel 54.

Public Comment/Feedback on Superintendent Finalists
There are many opportunities for the community to provide feedback about the finalists for the Superintendent position.

    Superintendent Finalist Feedback Form
Following the March 3 interviews with the finalists for the Superintendent position, the public will have its first opportunity to complete a feedback form on each finalist. The feedback form will be posted to the Superintendent Search page (this web page) of the DCSD website by the evening of March 3 and will remain open through noon on Tuesday, March 8.

    Public Comment - March 8
Initially, the Board planned to have public comment following the interviews on March 3. However, due to the timing of that meeting (during the day) public comment will take place at the next Board meeting on Tuesday, March 8. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. The public comment sign up form will open on Friday, March 4 once the March 8 meeting agenda has been posted.

Interview Panels with Superintendent Finalists - March 10
DCSD is seeking staff, students, parents, and other community members to participate in Superintendent finalist interview panels. As a reminder, the deadline to submit interest forms is Thursday, March 3. See below for more information and to register.

A feedback form link will be available on the Superintendent Search page of the DCSD website following the Community Forum.
Finalists will rotate between interview panels and the Community Forum during the 4:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. time frame.

    Public Comment - March 22
The community will have another opportunity to provide public comment related to the Superintendent Search at the regular meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m. The public comment form for that meeting will open on Friday, March 18 once the agenda has been posted.
