Masks/Face Coverings Requirement

Effective immediately, DCSD’s mask requirement is no longer in effect. DCSD will honor personal and parent choice with regard to mask-wearing at school. There are, however, a couple of exceptions:

  • Consistent with a federal public health order, students and staff are still required to wear face masks on school buses.
  • As recognized in the Board of Education’s resolution and by the Douglas County Board of Health, masking may be required in individualized circumstances as an accommodation under the ADA, Section 504, or the IDEA. Students, staff, and volunteers should continue to bring masks to school in the event they may be needed. In the case that masks are needed in certain situations to protect an individual with an accommodation under the ADA, Section 504, or the IDEA, it will be done in a manner that impacts the fewest number of individuals as possible and will additionally respect students and staff who for medical reasons cannot tolerate a mask.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, DCSD’s previous COVID protocols will be enforced in our schools. This means that all students, staff, and visitors in all of DCSD’s PK-12 schools will be required to wear face coverings, except for students who have documented medical exemptions from wearing a mask by a Colorado-licensed medical provider.

Sports Organizations - Rental applications will be accepted for dates March 15, 2022 - June 30, 2022

Year-Round Renters - Rental applications will be accepted for the entire 2021 - 2022 school year

**All other rental applications accepted daily**

DCSD procedures for masking in schools remain in place with the exception of a new avenue for families to exempt their children from mask-wearing, if desired.

DCSD will continue to require all students, staff, and visitors to wear facial coverings inside our school buildings regardless of vaccination status. There are exceptions, however, for those with either a medical exemption or an exemption pursuant to the new Public Health Order (a signed and dated declaration from a parent/guardian of a child under the age of 18 years). DCSD parents and guardians may submit their written exemption requests directly to their school.

The Office of Facility Rentals supports our stakeholders by managing use (inside and outside) of our schools within our community. With nearly seventy school sites, we provide a wide variety of space to suit our clients' needs. Our goal is to provide rental space for your organization while controlling costs.

The Office of Facility Rentals is one of the primary contacts between our community and our schools. A wide variety of groups (both non-profit and commercial) utilize our schools seven days a week.

A portion of the rental dollars is shared directly to the school, which gives the school additional funding to further support children's education.

We look forward to working with you and your organization in the near future.
